Yes - this is a good review (see above).....the writer has covered the whole evening very well, which is lucky as now I feel that I don't have to write anything much! Just a few details....

Jen Lucy and I went into Cafe Rouge just behind the Symphony Hall before the show began to have a bite to eat, and as we were sitting there in the window saw a familiar figure walking quickly across the square in front of us. Yes, it was the lovely Daniel. (I should point out that both Jen and I find it impossible to recognise anyone when out and about unless they actually smack us in the face, so it was the ultra-observant (stalker) Lucy who actually noticed him.) We finished our meal and followed him into the concert hall - a really lovely modern space, fantastic acoustics - if you get the chance to see someone there, don't hesitate. We noticed Sue (Williamsgirl) immediately in the front row and she came over for a quick chat.

Right from the beginning of the concert you could tell how much more confident and experienced Daniel is than Jessie. She looked desperately nervous, bless her, and in fact Sue (who was practically sitting on Daniel's knee she was so close) said that Jessie was shaking like a leaf. She looked beautiful in a very long red dress, very low cut, and laced all the way up the back. It was stunning, but I did wonder if she might have felt slightly more confident in something less revealing......it looked like it might slip off at any moment, and at one point Daniel was actually standing on it ( ) during a duet which must have been a worrying moment!! Daniel looked lovely - a really classy looking charcoal grey suit with a waistcoat, crisp white shirt and dark red tie, exactly the same colour as Jessie's dress.

Jen has very inconsiderately gone off with the programme so I can't remember all the songs or the exact order. I do remember his brilliant version of "Maria" which I have heard him sing many times before but will never tire of - absolutely lovely. The duets with Jessie were also very good - their voices harmonised beautifully, and she has really improved since I'd Do Anything.

The previous reviewer said that she thought that his voice wasn't really suited to pop songs. I personally thought that it was the pitch that was occasionally a bit problematic for him. He seemed to struggle slightly with "How Deep is Your Love" but I put that down to the fact that it may have been a bit low for him, or possibly just that he didn't know it as well as some of the other material. I refuse to believe that he can't sing pop songs!

In the interval Sue came over for another chat and we had a heated discussion about whether or not Daniel needed to get his hair cut, but luckily before we came to blows the second act started. Jessie seemed to have gained in confidence by now and the whole performance from both of them was really polished and lovely to listen to. Jessie was still a bit panicky when she was talking to the audience between songs, though, and at one point got all her words muddled up. It just makes you realise what a long way Daniel has come since - what was that wretched programme called? - because he is now the consumate professional. Not only does he sing beautifully he manages to get so much warmth and colour into his voice - it's a treat to listen to him. If you have only seen him in Avenue Q do take the opportunity to go to this type of thing - he is able to show off his voice much more in concert.

If I think of anything else to say, or Jen reminds me about the order of songs I'll post again, but that's it for now. :D

Home at last! I have got a couple of photos in focus (small camera and snatched as I was so close I was embarrassed to shove the camera in his face  ) to support my view that he looked gorgeous and that was down to the slightly longer hair and stubble  oh and those sparkling beautiful eyes of course.I have to confess though that I always like longer hair so it is ,of course, purely personal preference :)

Excellent reviews have captured the essence of the evening but as Paula said it wasn't that the pop songs didn't suit really but that he was singing too low for the most part and lost his power. The songs that mattered however were absolutely outstanding.
I have to say I only disagree with the first reviewer on "I can't take my eyes off you" as it was my least favourite of the night for the pitch as stated and because he got the words wrong all the way through!! Surely he has heard JB sing it often enough.
Daniel really did come over as confident and professional and Jessie although she sang very well was a nervous wreck-she shook every minute of the show.
She was very slow to react to Daniel holding out his hand to her  and shook her head when he asked her to be his Valentine in the middle of "how deep is your love" is she mad?

I have to agree that her dress needed an iron and was very revealing but then we were very close indeed. She and Daniel both stood on the dress.
His suit was lovely and the tie matched her dress beautifully.

As already stated the Symphony Hall was really quite full-75% at least which pleased me as the tickets were very slow to sell and it holds well over 2000.

It was a beautiful evening (and my husband did enjoy it :D especially Love changes everything which Daniel really belted out :kisskitty: :kisskitty: ) and a lovely start to my holiday which has been great.
Had to wait to see the photos just now and some were out of focus but there are a couple of lovely ones. We were looking up from the ront row but i would still choose it over the back at £6 more!!

Will post more as I remember it but it was wonderful :D
It was lovely to meet Lucy, Paula and Jen and I was sorry not to have longer to chat. I hope Lucy is better now.

A couple more-this actually makes Jessie look bigger than she was-she was so thin.
